Show Pickett Is President Of Polled Hereford Breeders At a meeting of members of the recently organized Utah Polled Poll-ed Hereford Association, held in St. George on Friday morning, Feb. 19, a permanent organization organiza-tion was effected with Jess W. Pickett, Parowan Polled Hereford Here-ford breeder, named as president of the organization. Mr. Pickett was made temporary tempor-ary chairman of the group at a meeting held in December in Richfield. The election meeting was in the form of a breakfast meeting held at the Sugar Loaf Cafe and preceded the annual winter Hereford Bull sale held in St. George that week end-Elected end-Elected as vice president of the organization was Phil Allen of Antimony with D. Gene Butler, of Beryl named as secretary. In other business attended to the group present adopted bylaws to govern the organization and set up seven districts In the state to coincide with the Utah Cattlemen Cattle-men Association districts and also al-so renamed directors to head each of these districts. They are: Keith Hoffman, Logan, District No. 1; Dan Freed, Salt Lake City, No. 2; John Young, Fruit-land Fruit-land No. 3; Lloyd George, Ka-nosh, Ka-nosh, No. 4; 'Jess Pickett, Parowan, Paro-wan, No. 5; Phil Allen, Antimony, No. C, and Francis Haskell, Pay-son, Pay-son, No. 7. Plans were also made at the St. George gathering to hold the next meeting of the organization during the annual Southwest Livestock Show in Cedar City this fall.. Mr. Pickett states that charter members included 17 Polled Hereford breeders from '.luoughout the state, and that all things point to a very successful suc-cessful organization to promote the breeding of Polled Hereford type of cattle. |
