Tournament scheduled for March 17 to 20 at the liYU fieldhouse. And with only a game with the last place Beaver team yet to go. Delta is the only team In the Class B ranks over the entire en-tire state which is undefeated. Dixie, next to lasi, fell to Cedar last Friday night at Cedar City. We don't expect the Rabbits to get over-confident to the stage that they will drop this one to the Beaver, but stranger things have happened this year, and the game is at Beaver. Also last week Millard High of Fillmore took over undisputed possession of second place by soundly trouncing a weakened Parowan team at Fillmore. Mil-ford, Mil-ford, in Its 63 to 54 loss to Delta at Delta, has to be. content with third spot in the standings, but is assured of a sport in the Region Re-gion Eight playoffs on March 13 and 14. The Tigers and the Millard Mil-lard Eagles play each other at Milford In their final game and even though Milford wins this one it has still lost 4 games. A loss for Millard would give that team only three losses. So (or all practical reasons the race Is decided. That is, except for last place In the standings. A win for Beaver over Delta at Beaver Friday night, would raise that team up to a tie for fourth with the Parowan Par-owan Rams. As of now the Rams have two wins to one for the Beavers, and an upset win over the first-place Ha l bits would raise the Beavers out of the cellar, cel-lar, and give them the honor of being the only team to beat the Millard County team this year. In last week's games Parowan traveled to Fillmore where they took a 95 to 56 drubbing at the hands of the Eaglea. According to the box score, the Rams fell behind 20 to 11 in the first quarter quar-ter but outplayed the Millard team In the second quarter, hitting hit-ting for 22 points to 16 for the home team to trail 36 to 33 at half time. In the third period the Eagles scored an unbelievable 37 points to 13 for the Rams to take a 73-16 lead and then got 20 In the final period to 10 for the rams. Parowan scoring was as follows: fol-lows: Greg Topham, 20; Mahlon Dalley, 10; Larry Smith, 5; Mike Adams, 8 and Tom Taylor, only senior listed, cot 13 points. Millard put on a full court press following the half-time rest, which the Rams weakened by the absence of four regula' ., just couldn't cope with. Coach Brlnkerhoff had only nine men In uniform at Fillmore. In addi- J tion to those who broke Into the scoring column listed above, he! had Wayne Robinson, who had! been out with sickness, and did-1 n't play; Ken Watson, Alan Lis ter and Rick Evans, all of whom got into the game but didn't score. |
