Show Scout SMII-O-Ree Scheduled Saturday. Mar. 27 Plans have been formulated for a Cedar Breaks District Scout ' Sklll-O-Ree to be held Saturday, March 27. at the Cedar City Livestock Live-stock Pavilion. The event will be conducted from 4 p. m. to 9 p. m. and the public has been Invited to attend and participate. ' Troop to Man Booths " ' v Boy Scout Troops In the dis-trict dis-trict will set up booths in the front portion of the pavilion to display skills and to conduct competitive events. Patrons who attend will have the opportunity to move from booth to booth where scouts from the various troops will explain and demonstrate demon-strate scout ng skills. In addition, competitive activities activi-ties will be conducted throughout through-out the day and a prize will be given for the booth that shows the most originality and aptness for demonstrating the skill chosen. chos-en. Some of the skills already planned for the Skill-O-Kee include in-clude knot tying and lashing, judging and match striking, plant identification, first aid, flag display, bird identification, map and compass reading, signaling sig-naling and judging of odors. Combine Skill and Fun Troop 334 will have the booth on judging and match striking which is expected to create a lot of fun for those attending. Judgment Judg-ment portion of the booth will be guessing the length of a line drawn on a board. The match striking will be a skill test in striking a match standing up on a block of wood with an axe. Speed In memorizing items in a box will be another skill demonstrated demon-strated in this booth. It is one of many that will be of interest to patrons along with some of the more practical such as first aid, which will be put on by Troop 335. |
