Show Lions Club Begins Preparations for 1965 Minstrel Show The Parowan Lions Club held its regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Parowan Cafe, at which the club members spent some time discussing plans for the annual Minstrel Show which will be presented on April 30 and May 1. It Is announced that Robert Potter of the Parowan High School music department will assist as-sist the club with the production this year and will be in charge of all music for the show. Amasa Stones will be In charge of the skits and speaking parts. Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Mar. 3 it is announced at which time all major parts will be assigned. Mr. Potter will also use some of the brass section from the high school band in the production and a banjo or two will also be featured. It was announced that all proceeds pro-ceeds from the minstrel show will be donated to the high school' band uniform fund. Following the business meeting meet-ing a veiy interesting lecture was given by Larry Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell just recently returned from a tour of Russia where he traveled as a representative of the Telephone Company. He also had some very interesting slides which he showed to the group. Members were particularly interested inter-ested in the comparison given by Mr. Ma.vwell of the communications communica-tions systems of the two countries, coun-tries, United States and Russia. The next meeting will be held March 11 at the Parowan Cafe. |
