Show Two Grand Slam Homers Top League Play TEAM STANDINGS Power 4 2 .667 Construction 3 2 .600 Ardens 2 3 .400 Parks 1 3 .250 Two grand slam home runs, belted out by Charles Cox of the Utah Parks Co. and Gary Anderson Ander-son of Utah Construction, topped the action In the Pony league during the past week. Both were "in the park" homers. On Friday evening Cox tagged a pitch thrown by Michael Jones of UC with the bases loaded, to start his team, Utah Parks, in a rout of the construction crew 14 to 3. Out hit only 9 to 7, construction con-struction was unable to get their runs across. Big inning for the parks was the fourth. Although no homers were knocked in that inning they pushed over nine runs. Construction, started with Jones on the mound, but switched switch-ed to Bevan Leigh and wound up with Gary Anderson. Higbee and Smith paced the Parks team to victory, the first of the season. Spells Difference Anderson's homer came In the fourth inning Wednesday evening and the grand slammer made the difference between defeat and victory for the Utah Construction. They won the game 8 to 5. Power team pushed over three runs In the sixth after one each In the first and fifth, but could not regain re-gain the ground lost by the grand slam homer. The second defeat of the season sea-son for the Construction crew came Tuesday evening when Phil Yergensen, on the mound for Ar-den Ar-den Dairy, allowed only three hits and one run. Arden won the game 6 to 1. The single score for UC came in the bottom of the seventh and final Inning to ruin Yergensen's hopes for a shut out. The Reddy Kilowatts scored a victory over the Parks Monday evening by a one run margin, 5 to 4. Gentry and Gardner shared honors on the mound for the power crew while Higbee and Smith chucked for the Parks. At the end of six innings the Power team held a 2 to 1 margin. The Parks team came back In the top of the seventh with three runs to go out in lead 4 to 2 at the outset out-set of the bottom half of the last inning. Power boys rallied to the call, however, and pushed over three runs for the 5 to 4 victory. |
