Show Member Drive Given Final Push by Chamber Several matters of business, headed by the organization of a final membership drive, was discussed dis-cussed at the regular meeting of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce Com-merce held Thursday, June 9, according ac-cording to Clarence Miller, president. presi-dent. Frank Petty, vice president of the chamber, and In charge of membership, discussed the drive this year and reported that results re-sults are as good as, If not better than average. However, members of the board of directors were given contact lists as a final drive for the 1955 year. Other business on the agenda Included a report on Wood's Ranch recreation program; report re-port on the tourist booth on the park, and a discussion of promotion, pro-motion, by way of signs for Cedar Ce-dar Breaks. In his report of the Wood's Ranch area as a nossiblp recrea tion area, Miller Indicated that through the efforts of the chamber cham-ber and other groups in the community, com-munity, arrangements had nearly been completed for the purchase of that property with further arrangements ar-rangements for development and maintenance not yet worked out. Tourist Booth The tourist booth, located on' the Cedar City park, Is now open, and serving the touring public, It Is reported. Mrs. Fred L. "Tlllie" Biederman will again be in charge of the booth this year, with Mrs. Ralph Perkins as assistant. as-sistant. The booth will be open from 7 a. m. to 7 p. m. each day of the week, giving out information informa-tion on the area, highway conditions con-ditions and suggested modes and routes to be traveled by visitors in this area. A committee, to be headed by Boyd Paulson; board member, has been assigned and considerable consider-able discussion was made at the board meeting regarding proper identification of the Cedar Breaks area at the corner of Main and Center Streets In Cedar City. Promotion Pro-motion of the Breaks by the Cedar Ce-dar City Chamber of Commerce has been deemed advisable and suggested procedures will be announced an-nounced In the very near future, Miller said. Next meeting of the board will be held on Thursday, July 7. |
