Show Positions Filled In Iron County Schools Eleven new teachers have signed contracts to teach In the schools of Iron County during the coming year, according to Superintendent Sup-erintendent Ianthus Wright, fill-ing fill-ing all elementary school vacancies, vacan-cies, and leaving only four more positions to be filled, three in the Cedar City High School and one In the Parowan High School. The three vacancies In the Cedar Ce-dar City High School are the positions po-sitions formerly held by Richard Gillies, student counciling and social science instructor; Fay Ja-cobson, Ja-cobson, science instructor, and Edward Schoenfield, art instructor instruc-tor in the high and junior high school. The vacancy in the Parowan Paro-wan High Is that of coaching, Bruce Decker having resigned to accept a position In California. Mr. Wright states that he has a number of applications for the positions but he has not yet selected se-lected the teachers to fill them yet. Karma Joseph of Beaver, a Uni-veisity Uni-veisity of Utah graduate, will teach in the Cedar East Elementary Elemen-tary School, succeeding Mrs. Va-lols Va-lols Atkln, and Helen Easton, also of Beaver and a Brlgham Young University graduate, will teach in the Cedar North Eelementary School, filling a vacancy caused by the resignation of Victor Frel. Winona Prince of New Harmony, Har-mony, a Utah State Agricultural Agricultur-al College graduate, has signed as girls physical education instructor in-structor In the Cedar City High School, to succeed Mrs. Joan Car-penter. Car-penter. Beverly J. Smith of Idaho, a U S A C graduate, will replace Mauiine Gassman in the Cedar High School as commercial instructor. in-structor. Raynold B. Hanson, who served as principal of the Valley High School at Ordervllle last year, will teach English and science at the Cedar Junior High School, replacing Harold Atkln. Three new teachers have been added to the Parowan High School staff, including Betty Mar-ie Mar-ie Anderson of Richfield, a B Y U graduate, who will teach home economics, succeeding Phyllis Hall; Carol Rae Brown, Logan, a U S A C graduate, to teach girls physical education, succeeding Ramona' Stubbs, and Betty Peterson Pet-erson Fielding, U S A C, who will teach commercial subjects, succeeding suc-ceeding El Roy Laws. Two new teachers have been employed for the Parowan Elementary Ele-mentary school, one to fill a vacancy va-cancy caused by the resignation of Mary Joy Justensen, and the other an added teacher to handle increased enrollment. They are De Esta Sampson, Tremonton, who has been teaching in the Box Elder School district, and VI-late VI-late Hlgbee an experienced teacher from Downey, Idaho. One other teacher has been employed, Mr. Wright says, Mrs. Richard Williams of Cedar City accepting a teaching position in the Escalante Valley School. |
