Show Cedar Unit Receives Award At State Convention The Cedar City American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary unit was the recipient re-cipient of the state award for the most outstanding history book in the state organization at the conclusion of the State Convention Conven-tion held at Vernal. Three members of the Cedar Auxiliary unit were on hand at the state convention at Vernal. They included Lona Watson, past department president; Annie Es-plin, Es-plin, newly elected president of the local unit, and Alice Jones, vice president. In addition to the first place award for the unit history the local organization was recognized for its patriotic contribution toward to-ward National Defense for promoting pro-moting the sale of U. S. Government Govern-ment bonds. Outgoing unit president, pres-ident, Pearl Rogers also received a lapel pin signifying the enrollment enroll-ment of five new members this year, It was reported. Historian for the unit book, which won the first prize wa Lois Hall. Those ladies attending the state convention reported a most enjoyable function. One of the highlights, they stated, was the report by the Treasurer of the United States, Utah's Ivy Baker Priest. A unique personality at the- event, was the "Lone Ranger," Ran-ger," revealed at the end of the conclave as the mayor of Vernal. |
