Show School to Issue Call For Bids on Operation Purchases Bids will be called for next week by the Iron County Schools for two major purchases for the operation of the schools In the county during the 1955-56 school year, one for the school lunch program and the other for coal for heating the school plants Purchase of heating fuel for the schools is a major item, with the extensive building program that has been under way for the past years, naturally the problem prob-lem of heating costs also expand. The "coal bill" certainly is much greater now than It was a few years ago, and with additional building space being provided It will continue to climb. Bids will also be asked for the furnishing of milk for the school lunch program at all of the schools. This year the school board will ask for bids for furnishing fur-nishing milk both in cartons and i in bottles. The school lunch operators oper-ators would prefer to have the I milk furnished in cartons for the simplicity of handling and also for sanitation reasons. Because Be-cause of this the board will ask the bidders to submit bids on both so that a comparison of I costs can be made. Tha hnnrrl will nlor rail fnr bids on two minor items, for insurance in-surance on the boilers in the heating plants, and for the purchase pur-chase of a new truck. The truck is to be a flat-bed truck with a hoist, to be used in general school 1 maintenance, such as hauling off 1 garbage and debris. It will re-' re-' ptace an old vehicle that , his served its usefulness. I The official calls for bids will appear in the June 23 issue of the Iron County Record. |
