j PUBLIC FORUM , jrr-r Safety Suggestions As a means of preventing automobile au-tomobile accidents, I urge compliance com-pliance with the following traffic traf-fic safety rules: 1. Avoid excessive speed; excessive ex-cessive speed is the number one killer on our highways. 2. Don't drive while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. If you drink, don't drive if you drive, don't drink. 3. Don't cross the yellow line. A yellow line means "You must not pass here." Don't be foolish fool-ish and take a chance. 4. Drive in your right position on the road. 5. When approaching places of extra hazard, reduce speed. When approaching places where people or animals or vehicles are on or near the highway (particularly children or children on bicycles), reduce speed when approaching such area. 6. Don't follow another vehicle too closely, bumper riding has caused many accidents. 7. Keep on the alert for road signs and traffic signals, and observe ob-serve them rellf imislv. - - 8. Avoid passing another vehicle vehi-cle unless you are sure you can pass before meeting an oncoming vehicle head-on collisions are terrific. 9. Give proper and timely sig- nals before turning or stopping. 10. Make sure the car you are driving is maintained In proper mechanical condition. 11. Keep on the alert for pedestrians pedes-trians and give them the right-of-way whenever necessary to avoid accidents. 12. Study traffic safety rules and improve on your driving habits.
