Show Navy Enlistee Spends Leave With Parents in Beryl Carroll T. Holland, seaman apprentice, ap-prentice, U. S. Navy, has completed complet-ed his 11 weeks recruit training at the U. S. Naval Training Center, Cen-ter, San Diego, Calif., and is spending a 14-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril T. Holland of Beryl. Upon completion comple-tion of his leave Seaman Holland will report back to San Diego where he will be transferred to the communications technician school at either Treasure Island, Calif., or Washington. D. C. Seaman Holland enlisted in Navy Jan. 18, 1951 at the Navy recruiting station in Cedar City and left for San Diego from Salt Lake City on Jan. 19. Upon reporting to school Seaman Sea-man Holland will receive 52 weeks of training in the operation opera-tion of communications systems and equipment now in use, improvement im-provement of current practices and apparatis, development and test of new precedures and designs. de-signs. Some of the jobs he will learn will be: Radio receiving which involves International Morse Code, communications systems and the organization and principles princi-ples of communications security, .operating methods and care of all communication equipment, fundamentals of electricity, electronics, elec-tronics, vacuum tubes, magnetism magne-tism of radio circuits. Through the knowledge and skills Seaman Holland will at- tain in this field while serving in the Navy he will be qualified for the following jobs in civilian life: Radio operator and repairman, repair-man, teletype operator and re pairman, electronics repairman, business machine operator and repairman, instrument repairman, repair-man, statistical clerk and accounting ac-counting clerk. |
