Show An Open Letter Residents of Cedar City are to be commended on the job that was done on the clean-up campaign just ended. Cedar has always had clean homes and lots, but a number num-ber of vacant lots in town and surrounding areas have become be-come cluttered with paper and debris. Through the cooperative co-operative efforts of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Elks Club, Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Kiwanis, over 20 of these unsightly lots have been completely cleaned. The clean-up committee of the Jaycees wishes to express its thanks to these organizations and to the boys of the senior and junior high schools for the effort put forth to accomplish this clean-up. Residents were cooperative in leaving rubbish in front of their places so that the Jaycees could make easy pick-ups of the more than 40 truck loads that were taken from the city Saturday and Sunday. It is estimated that an equivalent to this was hauled away by residents themselves. Trucks to accomplish this task of cleaning up Cedar City were generously donated by businesses and indivduals in town and the committee members extend their thanks to these people. Thanks, all of you, for a job well done. GARY MACFARLANE, Clean-up Chairman |
