National Guard 2 0 1.000 Columbia 2 0 1.000 Parowan 2 1 .667 Dennetts 1 1 .500 Jaycees 0 1 .000 Websters 0 2 .500 Milts 0 2 .000 Two games listed on the schedule sche-dule of the Junior Chamber of Commerce sponsored city league basketball docket included contests con-tests with Enterprise with the Jaycees and Webster Coal Mine. According to Tom Brown, director of the league, it is not known if Enterprise will participate this year. Over the past two weeks the city league has gotten well under way with games being played each Tuesday and Thursday evenings eve-nings in the C S U fieldhouse. One of the best games of. the past week pitted the Columbia Iron Mines against Parowan. Columbia Co-lumbia came out on the long end with a victory of 37 to 31. The game was deadlocked a number of times during the 32 minute contest. However, Bob Dimick's total of 17 pointers for the miners spelled the difference In the final outcome. In the initial game for Columbia against Webster, Dim-ick Dim-ick pushed in 19 of the 35 points garnered by the team. The National Guard, keeping pace with Columbia scored two victories this week. The first was over Dennett's with a score of 47 to 35 and the second victory came at the hands of Milt's on Tuesday night when the guardsmen guards-men scored a 39 to 33 win. In the first game Tuesday evening eve-ning the Jaycees led a spunky Dennett's crew through three quarters and into the fourth only to fall in the final minute of play. Dennett's won by a score of 33 to 31. Jack Walters was high for the plumbers with 15 points. Parowan stayed in third place after losing to Columbia by downing Webster's Tuesday night by a score of 35 to 20. It was the second win for Parowan In leaugue play. |
