Show Cedar Lions Meet With County Agricultural Agent, Safety Award Winner at Club Meeting Iron County Agricultural Agent Wallace Sjoblom, and Miss Flor-ene Flor-ene Richardson, county, state and national 4-H Club winner, were guests of honor at the regular1 meeting of the Lions Club of; Cedar City Monday noon. Eldro Rigby was in charge of' the program and Browning Piatt introduced the county agent. Sjoblom told the Lions of his background and experiences in extension work and further outlined out-lined his duties as agricultural agent for Iron County. Following Follow-ing his brief discussion he introduced in-troduced Miss Richardson. Miss Richardson told of her recent re-cent trip to Chicago, as a result of her state honors in regard to Safety. At the Chicago 4-H Club convention she was awarded national na-tional honors and a $300 scholar-! ship by General Motors for her I achievements. She won the Iron County Fair and Utah State Fair 4-H safety contests, prior to her trip to the east. Piatt also discussed the plans, already underway, for "Don't Be A Litter Bug," campaign to be carried on by the club. It Is planned, plan-ned, he stated, to cover all trash receptacles in the city with signs stating, "Don't Be A Litter Bug," j and he also advised that the local club would participate on !a state level with a scotch-lite bumper campaign carrying the slogan. Other activities to help keep the city clean are also in the making, he stated. An announcement was also made by Piatt that the board of directors of the Lions Club had okeyed a recommendation that in investigation of the feasibility feas-ibility of chlorination of the city water supply be carried out. Further details of this action will be announced at a later date. |
