Show Little League Player Selection System Studied by Managers Organized baseball in Cedar City got a shot in the arm Tuesday Tues-day when the board of directors and the managers of the newly formed Little League association met to hash over plans for the coming season. Conducted by Cleo Petty, president presi-dent of the association, the meeting meet-ing was called to discuss and organize the system of "player selection", as outlined under the national rules. The Cedar City group will operate under a national na-tional franchise this summer and all rules and regulations of the national organization will be observed ob-served Mr. Petty states. Following the player selection discussion a schedule of Little League practice sessions was outlined out-lined in order that managers may get a chance to view the players before selection of the four teams. A schedule was drawn up as follows: Saturday, May 23 and Saturday, Satur-day, May 30, 1 p. m., 12 year olds; 1:45 p. m. 11 year olds; 1:30 p. m., 10 year olds, and 3:15 p. m., 9 year olds. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, May 26, 27, 28 and 29 the nine-year olds will meet at 4 p. m.; 10-year-olds at 4:30 p. m.; 11-year-olds at 5 p. m.; and the 12 year olds at 5:30 p. m. Following this series of practice prac-tice sessions the managers will then submit a preference list to the association for player selection selec-tion purposes. |
