Show B A C Commencement Exercises To Be Highlighted by Address by Pres. David 0. McKay Commencement exercises at the Branch Agricultural college i or the 1952-53 school year will be held in the college Memorial fieldhouse at 8 p. m. Friday, May 22, with David O. McKay, president presi-dent of the L D S church, delivering deliver-ing the address to the graduates. The exercises will be held in the evening this year for the first time, in order that more people will be able to attend. In recent years it has been necessary to restrict the attendance to parents par-ents of graduates and a small number of invited guests because of the limited capacity of the auditorium. With adequate seating seat-ing available in the fieldhouse, the exercises were changed to an evening hour and the public invited in-vited to attend. In addition to the address to the graduates by President McKay, Mc-Kay, the program will include two valedictory addresses, with Mary Lou Pendleton representing the bachelor of science graduates and Kendall Jones representing the associates in science. Both are from Cedar City. Dr. Daryl Chase, director, will make his annual report. Prof. J. H. riummcr, dean of students, will present 8(3 students at the exercises to receive associates asso-ciates in sciences certificates; and 25 students to receive bachelor bach-elor of science diplomas will be presented by Dr. Reese P. Maughan, chairman of the division divi-sion -of education at B A C. Awarding of the diplomas will be made by Dr. Elmer G. Peterson, Pet-erson, acting president of the Utah State Agricultural college. Trade certificates will be presented pre-sented to students who have completed the special trades course at the college. The feature of the exercises will be the presenting of citizen-'ship citizen-'ship awards by Prof. David L. Sargent, and the conferring of an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree on Mrs. Edith Bowen, re-tired re-tired educator from Logan. Musical numbers, both vocal and instrumental, will be provided pro-vided by the college music department. de-partment. " |
