Show Awards Assembly Honors 32 At High School Fourteen students at the Cedar City high school were presented scholarships, and 18 others received re-ceived activity awards, at the annual assembly program Fri day, May 15. Miss LaRue Dalley and Miss Sherlene Sherratt each received alschool. Miss Dalley was given a scholarship scholar-ship by the Branch Agricultural college on the basis of her scholastic schol-astic record while attending the high school, and also received "ne of two scholarships given by the Cedar City Elks lodge. The Elks scholarship was also to the Branch Agricultural college, and can be used to continue her studies stu-dies there, augmenting the scol-ership scol-ership she received from the school. The Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce presented a scholarship to B A C on the basis of scholastic accomplishment and extra-curricular activities, with Sherlene Sherratt named as the recipient. Miss Sherratt also received the second scholarship given by the Elks club. An athletic scholarship given by the Thorley Mot"r company was presented to Wendle Holmes, football, basketball and track star. Three scholarship winners that had been previously announced were presented at the assembly. Two were Carl R. Gray Union Pacific scholarships, won by Bar bara Grimshaw and Bill Brown, and a nursing scholarship presented pre-sented by the Cedar City Ladys of Elks to Alice Messer. A second scholarship, given by the Esplin Chinchilla Ranch, was presented present-ed to Miss Myonne Adams. Four students received activity activi-ty scholarships to the Branch Agricultural Ag-ricultural college. The recipients -f these were Beverly Jean Sherratt, Sher-ratt, Orion Wood, Kristine Corry and Kay Smith. Helen Hunt received re-ceived a scholarshln to the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University. Activity awards for outstanding outstand-ing participation in extra currlcular currl-cular activities, granted on a d o i n t system for activities throughout attendance at the school, were given t- Don Ray Melling, LaRue Dalley, Keith Cooley, Ray Stephenson, Alice Messer, Raynold Dennett, Norman Nor-man Prince, Dee Smith, Billy Naegle, J. N. Webster, Lawrence Ashdown, Kristine Corry, Kay Smith, Gary Terry, Bill Brown, Sherlene Sherratt, Orion Wood and Beverley Sherratt. |
