L " These beautiful trophies will be distributed Saturday night to winning teams in the third annual Branch Agricultural college Invitational Basketball Tournament, and to five players who distinguish themselves for outstanding performances. per-formances. The team winning first place will receive a trophy given by W. F. Mullett, local jeweler; the runners-up will receive a trophy from the Utah Parks company, and the consolation consola-tion champs will take home a trophy given by the Columbia Colum-bia Iron Mines employees. Five outstanding players will be selected on the basis of their performance in the tournament, and each will receive re-ceive a trophy from the Iron County Record. The tourney gets under way this afternoon with eight teams from four states pairing off in four opening-day games. Snow college will meet Chaffey college of Ontario, Ontar-io, Calif., in the first game, with Westminster of Salt Lake City tangling with Compton of California in the second encounter this afternoon. This evening Dixie meets Ricks ' college from Idaho, and the B A C Broncos tangle with Fort Lewis A & M in the final game of the day. Four games will also be played on Friday and Saturday, with games scheduled for 4 p. m. and 5:30 p. m. after which the fans will be given an hour's rest before two evening games, at 8 and 9:30 p. m. are played. I The tournament is being played in the B A C Memorial jfieldhouse, under the direction of Dave Gates and Cleo Petty, football and basketball coaches at B A C, respectively. |
