Show Vocational Training Committee Appointed in Cedar Because of the urgent need for training skilled workers in all industries in the Cedar City area as well as the entire state of Utah, a local Vocation Education Educa-tion Advisory committee has been created in Cedar City to encourage encour-age and assist schools In promoting promot-ing a program of vocational training. This is the first advisory advis-ory council to be formed for the promotion of vocational education educa-tion in the state to date. The objectives of this committee commit-tee are first, to encourage both men and women who are desirous of learning a trade or vocation voca-tion to register for classes with any one of the committee members, mem-bers, or with C. B. Cooley, Victor Vic-tor Davis or Eugene Hardy at the Branch Agricultural college. Second, to encourage employers emplo-yers to take advantage of these classes by encouraging their employees em-ployees to learn new trades or take refresher training in their present occupation. Third, to encourage high schools to acquaint students with the facilities and training classes that are available to them, especially es-pecially those who do not intend to go on to college, or do not intend to study for one of the professions. Fourth, to make available to those desiring a better knowledge or understanding of their potential poten-tial aptitudes, employment counseling coun-seling and aptitute tests including includ-ing performance tests if desired. The following; training classes are now available to those desiring desir-ing training at the Branch Agricultural Agri-cultural college: auto mechanics, machine operation, combination welding, body and fender repairing, repair-ing, and woodworking. Other classes will be made available if a sufficient number of people are interested. Interested individuals are requested re-quested to register with any member of the committee, which is composed of the following men: Marvin Jones, chairman; Claude Edwards, secretary; Heb-er Heb-er Sevy, Carroll Brown, L. J. Stucki, J. H. Wright, Glade Stephenson, Ste-phenson, John S. Hamilton, J. V. Adams, Dick Rice and V. J. Clove. |
