Show Cedar City Choral Groups Sing 'Messiah' Sunday Sunday night's performance of "The Messiah" promises to be one of the most prominent and finished yet produced in Cedar City. The rehearsals indicate a professional pro-fessional finish and smoothness both in orchestra and chorus. One highlight of the performance perform-ance will be "I Know that My Redeemer Liveth" sung by Luana Riddle. Other soloists include Blanche Burton and Elaine Nelson, Nel-son, altos; Joseph Hunter, bass, and Reed Roberts, tenor. The "Hallelujah", famous because be-cause the King of England stood in awe and reverence when it was performed, has a finish and anerve to it that will give great satisfaction to all who hear it. A new addition to the repertoire reper-toire of the chorus will be the lovely, airy chorus, "His Yoke Is Easy and His Burden Is Light." "Since By Man Came Death" not performed in some years past, has also been added this year, making the performance time Just a bit over one hour and thirty thir-ty minutes. One sidelight this year will be the trip to St. George with the entire ensemble for a performance per-formance Tuesday evening. The historic tabernacle will be the site, and once more these famous fam-ous strains will be heard in this famous old building. A capacity crowd well before performance time is indicated by advance interest in-terest from outlying communities both in St. Ceorge and here in Cedar City. Virginia Larson is the capable capa-ble pianist for this performance. In St. George the performance includes the organ instead of the piano. Performance time in Cedar City is Sunday evening, Dec. 14 at 8:15 at the public school auditorium. audi-torium. I |
