Three secondary school principals, prin-cipals, P. M. Bethers, Cedar City high school; Walter K. Daly, Par-owan Par-owan high school, and L. C. Miles, Cedar City junior high school, will attend the national Secondary School Principals conference con-ference at Los Angeles in February. Feb-ruary. Hulet, Cedar West elementary, and Alma Lawrence, Parowan elementary. The board also granted an extension ex-tension of time on the construction construc-tion contract for the Parowan high school at the meeting Monday. Mon-day. Extension was granted the Witt Construction Co., contractors, contract-ors, because of a delay in the shipment of steel. Shipment of steel joists have been delayed until Feb. 1, which is about CO days later than the shipment was contemplated. This will mean that it will be impossible impos-sible to close in the building so that inside work can progress during the remainder of this year and through January, However, it is expected that the building will be completed in time for the opening of school in September, 1953. The boa'rd gave approval for the use of school buses during the summer months for the transportation of Boy Scout j groups on visits to national parks I of the area, providing an opinion I of the state attorney genera1 will permit the use of the buses for such purposes. The Interna-Itional Interna-Itional Scout Jamboree will be held in California next summer, and it is expected that large groups of scouts would visit the parks of this area enroute to the (Continued on Page Two) Board of Education (Continued from Page One) jamboree or on their return if i transportation facilities are avail-ab'e. avail-ab'e. Normal transportation fa- i cilities would not be sufficient ! to handle the large numbers during dur-ing the short period of time be- , fore and after the jamboree, and S it is because of this that the board is considering ' granting 1 permission for the use of the school buses. )' |
