Show Employment Agency Supports Physically Handicapped Week Commenting on the observance of National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week during the past seven days, Prank Dalley, Manager of the Employment Office at Cedar City stated that his agency is cooperating co-operating wlh the Veterans Env ployment Service, Disabled American Ameri-can 'Veterans, Utah Office for Vocational Vo-cational Rehabilitation and other state and local agencies, to promote the program. Surveys of employers of physically handicapped individuals individ-uals show that 61 of the handicapped handi-capped workers ?iad ' better safety safe-ty records, 48 per cent of the handicapped hand-icapped workers had better than average attendance records, and 58 per cent of spuch workers stay at their jobs longer than non-handicapped workers. Physically handicapped persons who are interested in obtaining information in-formation regarding vocational rehabilitation re-habilitation are requested to see the employment office representative. Churches, civic organizations, labor la-bor organizations, farm groups, and other organizations are all urged to coooerate in promoting this program pro-gram not only for the week but the entire year. Mr. Dalley emphasized that handicapped han-dicapped persons are human beings who must live. They must work or be supported by public funds if they cannot support themselves by other means. When they are employed in useful work, they help not only themselves but contribute to the welfare of their community. ' |
