Show Washburn's Lead Is Short Lived Egbert Catches 9 Pounder Tom Washburn's hold on first place in the Cedar Wildlife Federation Federa-tion Big Fish Catching contest was short lived. Tom landed an even seven pound four ounce German Brown last week and was sitting back waiting for the end of the season, so he could coll for Hie $95 outboard motor offered as a orize for the biggest fish caught by a federation member during the 1947 season. This week, however. Ray Egbert, owner and operator of the Navajo Lake Lodge, landed a German brown that was more than two pounds heavier than the beauty landed by Washburn. Egbert's catch weighed nine pounds six ounces, and was caught in the Little Reservoir in Beaver canyon, the same spot where Washburn landed his. Egbert won the weekly prize offered by the Southern Utah Lumber Company. Ollie dDlafson walked off with the second prize for the week, landing a one pound nine ounce Rainbow at Pangultch Lake. His prize was contributed by Riteway Store. |
