Show Cedar High School Music Students Given Unusual Recognition The Cedar City high school Mus- 1 ic department, under the direction of A. B. Larson, has . again - been given unusual state-wide recognition, recogni-tion, this time in connection with the Utah Educational Association convention to be held in Salt Lake City this week end. A feature of the convention will be a concert presented by a Utah all-State high school orchestra, composed com-posed of outstanding music students from all parts of the state. The orchestra or-chestra will consist of from 100 to 125 students, and the Cedar City school has been invited to provide thirteen members of the group. The combined orchestra will be directed by Ralph Rush, orchestra director from the University of Southern California, who la to be brought to Utah for this purpose. The concert will be presented in the Salt Lake Tabernacle Friday evening. even-ing. Mr. Larson states that the thirteen local students selected to participate partici-pate are as follows: Violins, Marl-don Marl-don Smith, Emlllee Schmuta, Jane Melllng, Patsy Neeley, Beverly Knell, and Mary Louise Tollestrup; Cello, Marlon Bradsbaw; Viola, Eleanor Sargent, Joy Tate; String Bass, Janet Jones; Horns, Carolyn Pact, and Avis Palmer; Flute, Vyonne Day. |
