Show Telephone Perfects Recording Unit It at any time any telephone user hears a brief, high, almost musical note on his telephone line while he is talking a sort of gentle "beep" repeated every fifteen seconds or so he will know that the person to whom he is talking has a recording machine ma-chine making a record of the conversation. The Public Authorities who regulate re-gulate the telephone business recently re-cently authorized the use of recording re-cording devices connected to a subscriber's telephone provided that a warning signal Is used to let the person at the other end of the line know that the conversation conver-sation is being recorded. However, How-ever, it is unlawful for anyone to use a recording machine with the telephone without using the special equipment which sends the warning signal over the line. The Telephone Company will Install and maintain only the equipment for connecting the recorder re-corder and the automatic tone warning device to the telephone line. The Company will not manufacture man-ufacture or install recording devices. de-vices. If a person using the telephone does not want a record made of his conversation, he should ask the person with whom he is talking talk-ing to disconnect the recording machine. When the recorder Is disconnected the "beep" signal will no longer be heard. |
