I 'It' 1- : , - ? i i " ,, ' - , , I 1, " . .... hit- mill irS f--11 It Mrs. Maggie Mae Matheson Macfarlane, GO died early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. V. Crickett at Oceanside, California, following a brief serious illness. Although Mrs. Macfarlane had be?n in poor health for some time, she was not thought to be in serious condition until suddenly sud-denly stricken Friday. She, in company with her daughters, Mrs. Homer Jones and Miss Sarah Sar-ah Macfarlane , left Friday for Oceanside to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Crockett, and she was taken ill before reaching the California city. Reports from California indicate in-dicate that she suffered a severe body hemmorhage, and no hope for her recovery was held from the time she was stricken. The body will be returned to Cedar City immediately and funeral fun-eral services will be conducted at 2:00 p. m. Monday, August 23 in the First ward chapel. Mrs. Macfarlane was born in Parowan on May 5, 1888 a daughter of David R. and Sarah Matheson. She attended Parowan elementary schools, and as a young lady began employment as a clerk in the Parowan Equitable Equit-able store, and later came to Cedar Ce-dar City to work in the Page and Bracken sfore. In September, 1909 she married Kenneth 'Macfarlane of Cedar City in the St. George LDS temple. Mr. and Mrs. Macfarlane opereted the Macfarlane Hot Coal company for many years, and after her husband's death, Mrs. Macfarlane continued to operate op-erate the business successfully. She was active in LDS church affairs both in Cedar City and Parowan, and served for some time as president of the Cedar First ward Relief Society and as an officer in the Primary Association. Asso-ciation. She is survived by one son, Keith M. Macfarlane, provo, and four daughters, Mrs. Belle M. Jones, Mrs. Mae M. Boyter, and Miss Sarah Macfarlane, all of Cedar City, and Mrs. Lucille M. Crockett, Oceanside, California. Also surviving are nine grandchildren grand-children and the following brothers bro-thers and sisters: David A., Angus An-gus B., and Kenneth R. Matheson, Mrs. Hugh L. Adams, Mrs. Gates Burt, Mrs. Lilly Ward and Mrs. Bess Miller, all of Parowan, and Scott M. Matheson, Salt Lake City. |
