Show Gem, Mineral Show Planned At the most recent meeting of the Color Country Gem and Mineral Society, plans were initiated for this year's semi-annual gem and mineral show set for July 3-5 in Panguitch. The Color Country group which sponsors the show on alternate years will again hold the event in the Social Hall. They have already contacted several out-of-town dealers and four are expected to participate in the show. Sponsors anticipate some 25 to 30 display cases of lapidary crafts. They will have drawings every hour for door prizes and a snack bar. At past shows, lapidary enthusiasts en-thusiasts from all over the mountain west have spent several days in Panguitch taking part in the show and in several field trips associated with it. Lee Green, Junction, is currently serving as president of the Color Country Gem and Mineral Society, with George Proctor as vice president, Clay Young as treasurer, Howard Johnson as sergeant-at-arms, and Bill Niebel as secretary. The Color Country Rockhounds, a Panguitch High School lapidary club, will be selling tickets for the grand prize, a stone slab-topped table, and will be selling ads for a field trip guide to raise money for student scholarships in the earth sciences. Last year, five $200 scholarships were awarded to club members who were graduating from Panguitch High School. |
