Show New Deputy Begins Job In Boulder Area Garfield County's newest deputy, Kevin Moore, was sworn into office Monday, Moore, 24, graduated from Police Officers Standards df 'raining Academy (POST) in Salt uKe City March 20. He served in the sheriff's office as dspatcher for 10 days short of two va" before being accepted for academy training. He will be "aaoned in Boulder and will handle eastern portion of the county xeept for the portion protected by Mawell Jackson in Ticaboo. ' fa G More has an older brother, aylen, who is currently assigned to e Garfield County area with the Utah Highway Patrol. The 1980 Panguitch High School jpuate said the academy taught e Police officers in training traffic ligation, narcotics interdiction, Serprinting, defensive driving, idling of domestic problems, range firing and many other skills. Moore said that he went to POST weighing 204 pounds and came back weighing the same, but has lost three inches in his waist as a result of the rigorous physical training. He said that he is anxious to begin working with the people of the county and with his fellow deputies. Moore is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Moore of Panguitch. He is married to the former Deanna Roe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Roe, also of Panguitch. They are parents of two sons, Steven, four, and Mitchell, Mit-chell, two. Moore noted that while he was in training at POST, one of the principal prin-cipal topics of discussion was Sheriff Robert Judd's new program of Class II peace oficer training for the county's posse members, dispatchers dispat-chers and jailers. He said he expects to see other counties follow suit. |
