| Show IM ili SOCIETY last thursday evening the juniors gave a delightful ball at the high school gyro gym which was participated in by a great crowd of young people the juniors made a record in decorating for the gym has hag never presented such a brilliant and pleasing appearance the decorations consisted of 0 pennants representing all the utah colleges and universities a great many of the large universities of the nation and the high school they were hung bung on wires which crossed and re crossed the hall hal overhead in ah artistic and symmetrical manner and they wore were just high enough to admit of the tallest dancers passing under them without getting their hair mussed the pennants wera flanked in each corner corn or ot of the room by japanese palm leaf fans hanging on wires with large parasols nicely arranged to get the most pleasing effect fancy silk japanese folding screens were also used in the corners A refreshment corner was roped off and during the evening the dancers regaled themselves with soothing punch of the fruit variety and other refreshments the social was characterized also by the elegant gowns of the ladles most of the girls coming out in their new spring dresses and they did look handsome the juniors carried off the premium as entertainers and their social will long stand in the demor lea es of those who enjoyed it as one of the most delightful if not the most delightful of them all 0 saturday evening a number of neighbors and friends of mr air and mrs airs N J nelson jr gathered at their home in the second ward and surprised mrs airs betty D hansen the other mother of mrs nelson who has only been in this country a few months they brought with them not only the usual picnic but also an abundance of groceries and other things the party was a complete success and all enjoyed themselves those present were mr air N C christensen and mrs airs C J nelson son C P christensen hyrum johnson peter johnson linson Jo john T bennett I 1 john P olson john C olson J C nelson N J nelson jr mrs christena borgstrom Gorg strom mrs airs malvina christensen mrs airs hugo hansen miss edith hansen and mrs airs betty D hansen on monday bonday last elder tames of 0 the second ward reached the mile stone in lifes ites journey and inasmuch as mr air olsen has a large family of children residing in cache county they always make it a point to come over and help him celebrate his birthday this year was no exception and all of them that could conic come came and the day was doubly celebrated for elder alsens youngest son mr air erastus olsen was bom bolm on the anniversary of his fathers birth the son being in ill his year tie ile is the eighth son A number of relatives and friends residing in this city gathered at tho the olsen homo home also and the day was made a time fline ol of feasting le astIng and rejoicing A number 0 of f the f family fly returned to their homes in cache C it valley val icy on oil tuesday and the balance went home yesterday on january 1912 mr air and mrs olsen expect to celebrate their golden wedding god willing and the family is now making preparations for that event |
