Show New habitat created SALT LAKE CITY Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) Director Tim Provan this week announced the creation of a new "habitat" section within the DWR, effective Feb. 1. The Habitat Section will combine the current Resource Analysis Section (RAS) with the habitat specialists positions of the Field Services Ser-vices section. Provan said the new section was created in part to "emphasize the key role of habitat in wildlife management and the future of wildlife in Utah.' Among other duties, habitat workers will be the watchdogs of critical Utah wildlife habitat in the face of ever-increasing demands on the resource. Ralph Miles, former chief of RAS, will head the new section. RAS program managers Catherine Quinn and Mark Holden have been named assistant chiefs for terrestrial and aquatic resources, respectively. respec-tively. Miles said the new section will be one of the essential keys in preserving wildlife and related recreational opportunities for future generations. |
