The adversarial nature of the legal system creates additional stress and animosity in a relationship relation-ship between two people undergoing undergo-ing the pain of divorce. Add child custody to the process and it becomes a steaming cauldron of emotions that boils over the flames of the legal system. An alternative to this adversarial environment is mediation, whose sole purpose is to find an equitable solution to the disputes surrounding this family trauma. Independent and unbiased, the mediator uses their skills to encourage a settlement arrived at by the two parties. The American Arbitration Association, Better Business Bureau Bu-reau of Utah and the Utah law and Justice Center are co-sponsoring a seminar on Divorce and Child Custody Mediation.
