Show Activities planned BOUNTIFULOver 100 million people in 120 countries will celebrate Earth Week, April 16 through 21. Organizers of the activity hope this will mark the beginning of a long-term commitment to building a safe, just sustainable planet. Several activities are planned specifically for the Bountiful area. On Saturday, April 17 which is National Recycling Day, a tree, purchased with money earned through Bountiful's recycling program, pro-gram, will be planted on the city municipal building grounds. Mayor Robert Linnell will attend. Appropriate Ap-propriate speeches will be given. The public is invited. On April 21, Bountiful residents will celebrate Earth Day by planting 200 seedlings in Mueller Park. A representative from the Wasatch-Cache Wasatch-Cache National Forest will oversee this project. Boy Scouts will present a flag ceremony. Anyone wishing to help with the project should be at the Mueller Park gate at 9 a.m. If you have any questions about these projects or other recycling and renewing projects that are planned for the Bountiful area, contact Celestia Brunsdale at 292-9001. |
