Show West Bountiful considers storage sheds By JANICE BLACKHAM WEST BOUNTIFUL --The West Bountiful City Council could not approve the current site plans for the NorthgateShopKo development site because Scott Kjar, representative represen-tative from Sky Development, failed fail-ed to bring the plans with him to the meeting. West Bountiful city had scheduled schedul-ed time on its agenda to approve the site plans, but neither Mayor Carl M. Johnson nor the rest of the city council would give approval to plans they could not see. Instead the council approved the plans, subject to future inspection by Johnson, City Engineer Fred Campbell and Public Works Director Direc-tor Ralph Lees. Other areas of business included a unanimous vote by the city council coun-cil for a continuance of application on the proposed zoning changes on the 6.8 acres of vacant triangular shaped ground, located at approximately approx-imately 200 N. and 600 W. Sky Properties is requesting the area be rezoned from Rl-10 to M-D so the company can build storage warehouse facilities on the site. The property is currently zoned for 10,000 square foot lots, single fami ly dwellings. Consultant Val Halford, a planner of West Valley City's Community Development Department, Depart-ment, reported that the area lends itself "more to commercial use rather than residential use' ' because of the close proximity of the interstate in-terstate freeway system and Union Pacific rail line. He cautioned the council to monitor carefully the type of development de-velopment that goes into this particular par-ticular area because it acts as a 'buffer zone' between Phillips 66 and other residential areas. Mayor Johnson questioned the possibility of this particular piece of land meeting the federal criteria to qualify as a wetland. "We need to find out if it is a wetland before we can do anything," said Halford. He also said a 401 permit could be obtained which would allow for building on a wetland site. |
