Show Mark Peterson, son of Dar and I Nola Peterson of Bountiful, par- I ticipated in the Utah State geog- I raphy bee held at the University I of Utah, March 30. He is a fifth I grader at Tolman Elementary. I Mark was one of 101 semi- I finalists at the bee and after an I hour and a half of competition I became one of the ten finalists. I Mark gives a special thanks to I his teacher, Lauri Hubbard, and I his classmates who spent a lot of I time helping him to prepare. I X A ! J I . . . J I MICHAEL JONES I Jones named as I scholarship finalist Michael Jones, Centerville, a I senior at Viewmont High School, is I one of 500 finalists in The Jostens I Foundation Leader Scholarship I program. I Michael was one of more than I 35,500 high school students I throughout the United States who I applied for the award. Three hun- I dred $1,000 scholarships will be I awarded. I The scholarship winners will be I announced in late April. Selection I of the finalists and winners is based I on outstanding achievements in I school and community activities, I leadership experience and academic I excellence. I The Citizens' Scholarship Foun- I dation of America, St. Peter, Minn., I administrators for The Jostens I Foundation Leader Scholarship I Program, has selected the finalists I and will select the winners. I Finalists who do not receive schol- I arships will receive certificates of I recognition, I Commenting on the scholarship I program, Don C. Lein, president of I The Jostens Foundation, said, 'The I students selected as finalists in this I program are some of our finest I young people.
