Show Post office extends tax day deadline Bountiful residents can take tax returns to the collection box directly in front of the Bountiful Post Office as late as midnight April 1 6 and still get the day's postmark. According to Postmaster Greg Jones, the cut-off time for depositing depos-iting mail at the post office is usual-ly usual-ly 5:30 p.m. The temporary extension exten-sion should help people still working work-ing on their taxes when the deadline arrives, he said. Postmaster Jones said that 18 other Utah post offices will temporarily tem-porarily extend collection times April 16 to help tax filers. The postmaster also offered these tips: Make sure your return has the correct postage. The IRS and the state tax commission don't pay postage due costs, and the postal service can't deliver mail without postage on it. If your return does not have enough postage, it will be returned to you. Make sure your envelope is securely sealed. Loose flaps can get caught in processing equipment and your envelope could be torn. This I could also cause your return to fall out of its envelope. Make sure you include your return address on the envelope. |
