Show DHS girls lose to Warriors The Davis High School girls' Softball team got off to a slow start against Weber Thursday, losing by a score of 15-5. The Weber Warriors jumped to a 10-0 lead by the end of the second inning. The Darts held even with the Warriors for the last five innings, inn-ings, with each team scoring five runs. "We really didn't do that badly," bad-ly," said coach Frank Thompson. They had 12 hits and we had 12 hits. The difference in the game was that we had numerous fielding errors," he said. Girls' Softball is a relatively new sport at Davis. "We're having a tough start. We have a lot of kids who have never played before," he said. "The softball program is really good. It gives the girls a chance to participate," said Thompson. Weber County has a softball program pro-gram for their junior high girls. Consequently, many of their high school players already have several years of experience. "It will take us a couple of years to catch up," said Thompson. "In a year or two we will be right there with them. After the regular game of seven innings was over, two innings were played by the J.V. and reserves, "liiat's so everybody gets a chance to play," said Thompson. |
