Show Average up $775 Nebo teachers okay new pay raise offer Nebo District teachers representatives and the school board have reached agreement on teacher salaries salar-ies for the coming year and contracts are expected to go out immediately following the acceptance last Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at a meeting of the teachers negotiation committee announces Supt. Joe A. Reidhead. Average increase per teacher including includ-ing the increased insurance costs, is $775.50. The new contracts will provide for substantial salary sal-ary increases for all teachers, teach-ers, particularly those in the middle brackets. The beginning begin-ning salary for a teacher with a bachelor degree is $5400. Increments beginning with the fourth teaching year are approximately seven sev-en per cent .reaching a maximum max-imum of $9072 in 12 years. For teachers with MS degrees, de-grees, the beginning salary is $5940, increasing to a maximum of $9720 in 12 years. The increases range from $400 for beginning teachers (last year's beginning salary was $5000) to $672 on the B.S. schedule. The M.S. schedule provides for increases in-creases ranging from $440 for beginning teachers to $720. Teachers receiving both increment and schedule increase in-crease would receive increases increas-es ranging from $500 for second year teachers on the B. S. level to $1070 for teachers tea-chers with 11 years of experience ex-perience on the M.S. level. The average increase per teacher, including insurance costs, is $775, according to Superintendent Reidhead. Increased health and accident ac-cident insurance costs, which have been assumed by the district, average $33 per teacher, it was reported. Under the new contracts, assistant principals will receive re-ceive an increase of $200 for their additional administrative administra-tive responsibilities. The Nebo School Board earlier rejected a proposal to give extra pay to coaches and forensic instructors for time spent at meets outside the classroom. |
