Show 92nd birthday marked by family dinner It was a happy occasion Saturday for Mrs. Ella Reynolds, Rey-nolds, when she celebrated her 92nd birthday with a family dinner at her home, 190 South Second East. A daughter and son-in-law, Mr .and Mrs. V. C. Menden-hall Menden-hall came from Las Vegas as did other members of the family, fam-ily, Bishop and Mrs. Arden Childs and family of Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hales and Dr. and Mrs. John Paul Mendenhall of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. David Mendenhall of Provo. Another daughter and husband, John Y. and Birdella Bearnson of Springville, also attended. Other relatives and friends called throughout the day and again on Sunday and Monday, while others here and from out of town, sent cards and other congratulatory mesesages. Mrs. Reynolds has'nt let the years slow here down either in mind or body. Only recently, she supplied programs on three occasions in one week and it is not uncommon for her to travel to out of town functions and give a program once or twice a week. She always has an appropriate verse or verses, all memorized for any time and occasion. Annually for the past eight years, she has presented a full evening's entertainment for the M Men and Gleaners of Kolob Stake, and has already scheduled sched-uled one for next year on her engagement calendar. Mrs. Reynolds seldom wears glasses although she does considerable con-siderable reading and preparation prepara-tion for lessons and programs. She remarked on her birthday that the days are just not long enough for her to do all the things she wants to do. She hopes to go soon to the various hospitals and rest homes, where she has many friends, and cheer them with a bit of humor, advise or whatever what-ever the occasion calls for. She always has something just right to recite. Mrs. Reynolds is a native of Springville and has made her home here always, taking active ac-tive part in church work, club activities and civic affairs. Her entertainment qualities are known far and wide. Just as a sample of some of the advice she gives to those who might need it, she says (her own words) "Nobody likes a grumpy grum-py old man, or a finicky old gal either. So watch your step. Don't act glum, work a little, have some fun and you won't catch, old-age fever." |
