Reed installed chief of local firemen Martin Reed was installed chief of the Springville Fire Department at a meeting Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, at the fire hall. He succeeds Burt Taylor who was installed first assistant chief. Other newly installed officers are Merlin Fox, second assistant assis-tant chief; Kay Johnson, secretary-treasurer. Chairmen serving in various departments of the organization organiza-tion are: Morrell Dean, chairman chair-man of meetings; Carlyle Ol-lerton, Ol-lerton, amusem e n t; Hasting Smith, auditor; Bill Ruff, education; edu-cation; Edwin Johnson, attendance; attend-ance; Hardy Child, publicity; Newman Perkins, welfare; Reed Averett, sports. Firemen respond The fire department responded respond-ed to an alarm early Mon. morning mor-ning to the home of Herbert Gabbitas, 354 East First North. A furnace motor caught fire and filled the house with smoke. No serious damage to the home resulted from the fire however. |
