Show Hearing set today for former clerk A hearing is scheduled in Fourth District Court, Provo, today at 9:30 a.m., for Clarence Clar-ence J. Wendel, 53, former clerk of Nebo School District. District Attorney H e b e r Grant Ivins stated at his hearing hear-ing recently, Wendel was placed pla-ced on 18-months probation, when he had said the amount he had taken was only a few thousand dollars. However, the district attorney said subsequent subse-quent investigation had revealed re-vealed a shortage of $37,083.68. He indicated that his office felt the probration order should , be revoked on the grounds thel defendant supplied false infor-j mation to the court. Ivins saidj Wendel earlier told the court, the amount he embezzled was $8,000. V. Pershing Nelson, attorney for Mr. Wendel, indicated that' his client has never been sure of the amount of money involved invol-ved and that the probation or-, der specified that he make restitution res-titution for any amount found to be missing. He also said the defendant' will now concede some $31,000 missing. On Nov. 30, 1967, Mr. "Wendel "Wen-del pleaded guilty to embezzlement embezzle-ment charges and time for pronouncing pro-nouncing sentence was continued contin-ued to March 29, 1969 and he jj was placed on probation for that time and ordered to make restitution. |
