Show Services held in Provo for Mapleton man Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Berg Drawing Room, Provo, for John (Jack) Eastman, 71, of 618 East Maple, Mapleton, who died Friday, January 19, 1968, following a long illness. Bishop Bish-op Harold Gividen of Mapleton, was in charge. Burial was in the Provo City Cemetery. Mr. Eastman was born May 18, 1896 in Ogden, the son of Ephraim and Hansine Hansen Eastman. He was a member of the LDS Church. He married Vera May Carpenter, Car-penter, July 25, 1917 in Provo. The marriage was later solen-nized solen-nized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a sheepman most of his life and the owner and operator op-erator of the Eastman Exchange Ex-change Store in Provo for 23 years. He received his education in the Ogden City schools. As a young man he worked for the Shupe-Williams Candy Company Com-pany and the American Can Company. After his marriage he made his home in Ogden where he worked for the Goddard Canning Can-ning .Company, and later moved mov-ed to Provo with the same company. In 1918 he moved to Bremerton, Bremer-ton, Wash., with his family where he worked at the Naval Ship Yard during World War I, returning to Provo in 1920 where he engaged in the sheep business. He was a member of the National Na-tional Wool Growers Association, Associa-tion, Utah Registered Sheep Breeders Association and the Utah Wool Growers Association. Associa-tion. In 1942 he and Mrs. Eastman opened the Eastman Exchange Store, 40 N. 400 W., Provo, which they operated until Mrs. Eastman retired in 1965. Survivors include his widow; four sons, Leland J. Eastman, Provo; Frank L. Eastman, American Fork; Gordon E. Eastman, Orem and Harmon L. Eastman of Springville; two daughters: Mrs. Henry (Ber-nice) (Ber-nice) Brimhall, Provo and Mrs. LeRoy (La Vern) Clark of Orem; Or-em; 31 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one brother, broth-er, Gordon Eastman of Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif.; three sisters: Mrs. Ruth Brown, Ogden; Miss Lillian Lil-lian Eastman and Miss Hazel Eastman, both of Ogden. |
