Show Mapleton Hews Mrs. Lois Graves Phone 489-6674 The Mapleton Volunteer Firemen held their installation banquet Friday evening January Janu-ary 19, at the Oak Crest Inn. Special guests for the evening were their wives and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whiting. John Bleggi acted as the master of ceremonies. cere-monies. Pack meeting for the Mapleton Maple-ton Third Ward Cub Scouts was held Monday evening, January Jan-uary 22. The theme for the month was "Communication" with each of the four dens participating par-ticipating in a skit. The traveling travel-ing cubby was given to Den 4 for having the most parents and friends to the meeting. This is the fourth month in a row that this den has won. Mrs. Judy Thorn is the den mother of this group. The Jaycee Wives held a joint meeting with their husbands hus-bands recently. They toured the Richards P. E. Building on BYU campus. Mrs. LuAnn Diamond's Dia-mond's group was in charge of the arrangements. The Sierra Bonita Club entertained en-tertained their husbands at a party Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hansen. There were six couples cou-ples in attendance: Mr. and Mrs. Clay Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hansen, Mr .and Mrs. Fay Dibble, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ar-thur Harmer and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Allan. Prizes for the games were awarded to Mrs. Louise Peterson, Fay Jensen and Lester Les-ter Hansen. The deacons quorum of Mapleton Ma-pleton Third Ward held a sleigh riding party Friday evening. eve-ning. After the sleigh ride they enjoyed a chili supper, at the home of Bishop J. Norman Graves. Fay Jensen was in charge of the group. The boys reported that the hill was excellent ex-cellent for sleigh riding. The Costendendo Club met at the home of Mrs. Cleola Evans, Thursday evening with nine members present. Mrs. W. D. (Esther) Hurst spent four delighful days during dur-ing the past week visiting with her mother, Mrs. John Busk at Elsinore and other relatives at Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hurst have been to Southern California Calif-ornia for a few days during the past week. Jim Fojtek is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hjorth. He is the fiance of Mary Hjorth and will be leaving leav-ing soon for Vietnam. The Lions Club has donated $300 to Mapleton City for the building of cabinets in the new city building. They are also having a drive for old eyeglasses eye-glasses which will end February Febru-ary 17. Anyone who might have an old pair of glasses (usable) and is willing to give the Lions Club a helping hand, contact Reed Hales. |
