Show Chamber leader fights for Ptiapleton Martin Conover in one of his first moves as president of the Springville Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, went to bat for Maple-ton, Maple-ton, Springville's good neighbor city, when the Governor made his official visit here, Tuesday forenoon. With a well defined chart, complete with pictures of many Interstate highway directional signs, from Pleasant Grove on the north to Santaquin on the south, the Chamber president showed the Governor how Ma-pleton Ma-pleton had been slighted by Interstate direction signs. This, 'he pointed out, despite the fact Mapleton is the largest little city in the county. ' There is not a single sign to tell travelers on the Interstate or several highways just where to get off to go to Mapleton. The Governor remarked to Mr. Conover after being shown the map and pictures that "he got the picture." The Springville stop was one in several made by the Governor Gov-ernor and his party through Utah County Tuesday, to hear first hand, problems from townspeople. City officials and others were in attendance at each meeting and most of the problems cited before the official offi-cial group, was in connection with the new Interstate Highway. |
