Show Court hearing set for wife beating A Salt Lake City man, Benny Ben-ny Eyle, 35, involved in a wife-beating wife-beating and shooting fracas at the Springville bus depot on Thursday of last week, is in Utah County jail pending bail. His preliminary hearing is set February 14, in Provo City Court. According to JD Dalton, Springville City police officer, called to the scene, the wife of Mr. Eyle, told officers her husband hus-band followed the bus to Springville after she boarded it at Helper. She had been working work-ing at a hotel in Carbon. When she attempted to leave the bus at Springville, the man she identified as her husband, climbed aboard and started beating her on the head with a pistol. Sheriff Dick Chappel, also called to the scene, said a soldier, sol-dier, Pvt. Dennis K. Julian of Price, traveling on the bus, intervened and grabbed the assailant as-sailant around the neck. The woman told the soldier to release re-lease the man and he turned on her again. When the soldier again came to the aid of the woman, the man held him off with a pistol. The sheriff said a blood-spattered pistol was found later, a half block west of the bus depot. Officers believed the pistol discharged as it came down on the woman's head. The bullet lodged in an overhead luggage rack inside the bus and was recovered re-covered by officers. Mrs. Eyle was taken to Utah Valley Hospital where she was treated for injuries suffered in the beating and asked for protective pro-tective custody. In a comparative study of 14 selected industrial cities, Utah cities showed a clear advantage advan-tage in the cost of electricity and natural gas.
