Show Ram Wrestlers gear for State The Parowan Ram wrestlers traveled to North Sevier last weekend for the Region 12 wrestling tournament. tour-nament. When the tournament tour-nament was over, Coach Scott Doubek saw that he would be taking four wrestlers to state this weekend. Dave Hulet will go to state at 119 pounds. Hulet was seeded first in the tournament tour-nament but lost to Troy Pearson of Milford, 5-2, in overtime to knock Hulet out fo the championship match. Hulet did take third by defeating Bruce Morreal of Wayne 4-3 for the consolation con-solation championship. Dave Morgan also took third place at 145 pounds. He defeated Dave Nielson of Beaver in another overtime match 5-2. Morgan had previously lost, to Nielsen but proved to be the better wrestler last Saturday night. Tim Fox was upset by Burton Damon of Piute in the second match and knocked Fox out for the championship match. Fox did take third at 138 pounds but put himself into the tough bracket at state. Fox will have to wrestle the defending State Champ at 138 in the first match at state. Randy Robinson, a freshman, fresh-man, was the surprise at the tournament for. the Rams. He placed second at 105. He lost the championship match to Scott Ellett of Wayne. "We really got worked over", commented Coach Doubek. "Hopefully, we'll do a lot better at State". State matches are at 1:00 p.m. and 7 :00 p.m. on Friday and 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at North Sevier. Admission for adults is $2.25 and students will be $1.50. |
