Show Mary W. Lyman, active Church and Civic Worker dies; Services held organist for Sacrament meeting for 45 years. She also served as Primary Ward and Stake Organist for 24 years, was president of the mutual organization for I; vr fj PA ROWAN - Mrs. Mary Welch Lyman, age 71, died Monday Feb. 4, of a heart attack at the Valley View Medical Center. Mrs. Lyman was born Dec. 3, 1908, in Cowley, Wyoming, to Charles A. and Mary Louiza Welch. She married Rulon McGregor Lyman October 22, 1926, at Thermopolis, Wyoming. He preceded her in death. Their marriage was later sealed for time and eternity in the St. George Temple. They had five children, two sons, deceased, Merrill died at two weeks of age and Rulon McGregor Lyman Jr., who was killed in an accident ac-cident on his father's farm June 29, 1969 at age 36; three daughters, Mrs. LaMar (Roma) Jensen and Mrs. Norman (MaryGae) Evans, both of Parowan and Mrs. Jay (Ruth) Hardy of Bunkerville, .Nev. Mrs. Lyman is also survived by 16 grandchildren .. and 13 great grandchildren. She was active in Church and civic affairs, an active member of the LDS Church where she served as an also worked in the Relief Society and Sunday School. She played the piano for the DUP for a year, also played for hundreds of funerals over the years. She was pianist at the Parowan High School for 30 years, accompanying the chorus classes, operettas and other musical productions. She enjoyed workine with the students. She was active in politics, served as precinct chairman for the Republican Party for several terms. She loved horses and she and her husband raised and raced beautiful thoroughbred thorough-bred horses for many years. She i. has been honored as "The Grandma of Racing in Utah" at the Turf Paradise Track in Arizona. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 7 in the Parowan Third Ward Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial in the Parowan City Cemetery. MARY W. LYMAN two years, also played the piano.
