Show State Fair Dates Set for September 3-11 By offical board action, the dates for the 1945 Utah State Fair have been set for September 3 through September 11. This period provides pro-vides for a nine-day exposition and marks a departure from tradition, tra-dition, since no previous fair has ever been scheduled for a longer run than eight days. Another innovation will be the launching of the fair on Monday, Labor Day. The custom has always been to open on the Saturday preceding Labor Day. These changes have been made to confirm with a schedule of expanding fair activities looking to the climatic year of 1947, said Sheldon R. Brewster, secretary-manager. secretary-manager. The fair in 1946 will also have unique significance inasmuch in-asmuch as it is the 50th anniversary anniver-sary of the year in which Utah was granted statehood. Accordingly, According-ly, it is the plan of the Utah State Fair association to key its activities to this sequence of historic his-toric events. The fair this year has adopted as its theme "the portrayal of post-war Utah." "It is well understood," under-stood," said Mr. Brewster, "that the war is not yet won, that there is a difficult road ahead to the goal of total victory. But we are far enough along that there can now be a graphic appraisal of things to come. The government itself is leading the way to reconversion. re-conversion.
