Board Moves To Expand V A L Air Service Examiners Kecommend Expanded Service In Kocky Mountain Area The examiners of the Civil Aeronautics Aero-nautics board this week recommended recom-mended that Western Air Lines lie authorized to provide expanded air service in the Rocky Mountain area. The examiners favored a permanent per-manent route for Western Air Lines between Denver and Cheyenne, Chey-enne, and a permanent route between be-tween Sheridan, Wyoming and Rapid City, South Dakota. They also recommended that the airline be authorized to make intermediate stops on an existing route at Logan, Utah and Jackson, Jack-son, Wyoming. They favored a temporary three-year permit to allow Western to provide air service ser-vice to Richfield, Cedar City and St. George, Utah on a route already al-ready operated by the company. The stops at St. George and Cedar City would serve air travelers trav-elers hound for Zion National Park, Rryee National Park and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Can-yon. Officials of Western said that if the recommendation of the examiners are adopted by the Civil Aeronautics Board, they will enable the airline to improve the air service which is now provided. Western Air Lines is the oldest airline in the United States, having hav-ing begun operations between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City in 1926. |
