Hinton RM3c Memorial Services Held HURRICANE, Utah Memorial services were held in the North ward chapel Tuesday, May 29 at 2 p. m. in tribute to Radarman 3c Junior F. Hinton, 20, who gave his life in defense of his country. He died of wounds received re-ceived in action in the Southwest Pacific. Bp. Carrol Heaton conducted con-ducted the services and was assisted by Commander Homer Englestead of the Sterling Russell Post No. 100 with the military ceremony. The music numbers were a vocal duet, "End of A Perfect Day" by Leila Barber and Norma Stratton, Donna Sandbcre at the piano; solo, "Boy Of Mine," Afton W. Gibson accompanied by Irene Hinton; 'Through Deepening Trials" Tri-als" by the Faculty male quartet, Mrs. Hinton accompanying; original orig-inal tribute in verse by Vanita Wright read by Mrs. Virgil Snow of St. George; tribute from the Sterling Russell Post Auxiliary, read by Mrs. Joseph W. Webb. At the cemetery Chaplain Cyrus Gifford of LaVerkin dedicated the memorial plot and presented Mrs. Hinton, mother of the soldier with the National flag. A salute of honor was fired by Legionnaires directed by Commander Englestead Engle-stead and echo taps were by Klein Scheifer and Lafe Staheli. Surviving Radarman Hinton besides be-sides his parents, John L. and Ruth Fawcett Hinton, are two brothers, Buddie and Roland Fawcett; Faw-cett; two sisters, Joyce and Gloria; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Eliza Hinton, all of Hurricane, and his maternal grandfather, A. O. Fawcett of St. George. |
