Show Nation's Sugar Stock Must Serve For Home Food Canning The nation's stock of home-canning sugar must be conserved for the sole purpose of preserving a maximum quantity of fruit and vegetables. Emphasis was given to this need when the OPA, effective ef-fective June 1, ordered that all Utah war price and rationing boards stop temporarily issuing home canning sugar certificates. "Applications for home-canning sugar may still be mailed to board headquarters," E. Eric Snow chairman of the St. George war price and rationing board said today. "As soon as orders are received to resume issuance, certificates cer-tificates will be mailed to consumers con-sumers in the order in which applications are received." All rationing boards were instructed in-structed to report at once to the district office the total amount of home canning sugar issued to date in 1945. A thorough-going survey will be made of the state and national situation. OPA has been ordered not to exceed its quota for home-canning sugar as it did last season by v 300,000 tons. All board quotas have been withdrawn with-drawn and new ones will be established. es-tablished. Every precaution is being made to cut off sugar supplies sup-plies from those who do not intend to use their ration for home-canning. |
